Active School

St. Patrick’s BNS is an Active School – a school where physical activity is valued, promoted and enjoyed by everyone. As an Active School, we aim to energise the school day and reduce sedentary time by getting more active, more often. Every year, we try out some new initiatives. So far, we have tried tug-of-war, table tennis, volleyball, capoeira, kick-boxing, zumba dancing, skipping, archery, yoga, circuit training, golf and road bowling.

Active Week takes place in the summer term every year. This is the fun-filled week where we swop the books for walks, ball games, cooperation games, sports days, bouncy castles, bicycles, obstacle courses, relays, orienteering and penalties against the principal.

The Active School Committee is made up of boys from each class, to provide students with a voice in the decision-making process. Committee members provide feedback, ideas and suggestions. Their contributions are valuable in making the Active School process a success.
